Season’s greetings from the customer scrutiny group

We are finally at the end of the 2022 and looking forward to a bit of time off. A chance to spend time with friends and family.

It’s been a busy year for the scrutiny group that has been dominated by the cost-of-living crisis. We knew that many customers would be facing some tough times so we have been reviewing what help and assistance Westward could and does provide. You can see what we recommended here.

Westward are here to help

If you are struggling or think you might find things difficult, please contact Westward. They will talk to you and help you find the best way through and the right people to help you. There is also the Hardship Fund that is there to offer timely assistance to customers who are in immediate and extreme financial hardship.

With the cold weather set to stay, more people than ever before are struggling to heat their homes. The price of food has risen and for many people there are very real concerns about how they will manage over the Christmas period.

Please don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Connect

Christmas can be a tough time of year for many people. Talking to and connecting with the people around you, whether that be family, neighbours or a friendly ‘hello’ to the person standing in the queue behind you at the shops, may help.

Across Devon and Cornwall there are a number of Warm Hubs and Christmas Day lunches available. Email the Hub info@westwardhousing.org.uk or call 0300 100 1010 and they will be able to tell you where the nearest place is to you or click here to see a list.

Remember the true meaning

It’s easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas when we’re busy buying gifts and trying to make everything perfect. But let’s slow down and remember that Christmas is about happiness and being able to spend time with friends and family

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
