What's coming up? | Customer scrutiny group update

As usual the customer scrutiny group have had a couple of busy months.

The group are pleased to welcome new members Karly and Clark who give much needed representation from north Devon. You will learn more about them over the coming months.

On Saturday there was a customer scrutiny group get together. It was great to see the members physically together enjoying a lovely lunch - anyone who has visited Strawberry Fields at Lifton will know just how amazing their food is.

Stephen Lodge, Westward's chief executive, and Robert Stronge, chair of Westward's board, joined too. They talked about:

  • Promoting the group – advertising future reviews, films and new webpages
  • Advertising for new members with specific skills such as procurement, air source heat pumps, and repairs (also inviting external experts for support on reviews)
  • Attending board meetings (online and in person) and how this can be accommodated
  • Interviews with Savills to assess the organisation inspection readiness for Housing Regulator later this year
  • Members spending the day with a surveyor
  • Compensation policy and new rates.

The group’s next review is all about the customer voice - how can we ensure that the customer voice is heard and considered at all levels within Westward?

As well as planning the review, they have begun to interview colleagues across all areas of the organisation to find out what they know about the current ways the customer voice can be heard and how it is acted upon.

In September the group will be interviewing the executive team and attending a Westward Board meeting to see how the customer voice is heard there.
