New homes for Bude

Bringing 13 new affordable homes to Bude in Cornwall

Westward Housing Group is delivering 13 new energy-efficient and high quality affordable homes in north Cornwall working in partnership with Legacy Properties. These homes directly address local affordable housing need.

The new homes provide a mix of one-, two- and three-bed apartments, bungalows and houses for social rent and shared ownership.

In any area with generally lower and seasonal salaries, this home provision is key to creating sustainable communities for present and future generations of local people.

This is the fourth development created by Westward in partnership with Legacy Properties working across Cornwall. The Upton Green estate is beautifully landscaped, spacious and attractive, a wonderful place to call home. In an area with rising house prices and limited affordable options, it plays a key role in supporting 13 households as part of a larger estate.

Upton Green includes two adapted bungalows, purpose-built with entirely wheelchair-accessible homes. They feature adjustable multi-use kitchens, fully accessible wet rooms, ramped access, and fixtures installed at wheelchair-friendly heights, ensuring full independence for their new occupants.

Stephen Lodge, CEO for Westward Housing, said: “We are delighted to be providing safe, modern, and inclusive spaces where individuals and families can thrive.

These homes are a key part of Westward's growth strategy to ensure affordable housing provision in the south west, enabling communities to thrive."

The overall site of 25 homes includes open market provision from Legacy Properties.

Nick Long, Construction Director at Legacy Properties, said: ““Working in partnership with Westward Housing, we’ve delivered homes that meet real community need, from bespoke accessible bungalows to sustainable family housing. Upton Green has already captured huge interest for its design, quality and location, and these affordable homes are an integral part of that story.”

The coastal collection of energy efficient homes, just 500 metres from Bude’s north Cornwall coastline, features affordable homes built with sustainability at its core - including air-source heat pumps, solar panels, and thermally efficient materials.
