Celebrating community and belonging this summer

This summer, we were delighted to attend a series of vibrant community events across the south west, including Freedom Fields Festival, Exeter Respect, Torbay Pride, Bodmin Pride and Plymouth Pride.

Each event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate diversity and inclusion while connecting with customers, the local community and partner organisations. With plenty of sunshine along the way, the events were filled with positivity, creativity and a real sense of community spirit.

Our team enjoyed meeting so many people throughout the summer. Whether visitors stopped by for a chat, joined in with our activities or wanted to find out more about what we do, every conversation helped us strengthen our connections with the communities we serve.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited us and helped make these events such a success. We loved being part of these celebrations and look forward to creating more opportunities to connect, engage and support our communities in the future

A question that got everyone talking

What does home mean to you? board

One of the highlights of our summer events was our interactive "What Does Home Mean to You?" board. Visitors of all ages shared thoughtful responses about the people and feelings that make a home. The activity sparked meaningful conversations and reminded us that while everyone's experience is different, home is often centred around comfort, connection and belonging.

Some of the words and themes shared included:

  • Family
  • Safety
  • Comfort
  • Peace
  • Happiness
  • To belong

These simple but powerful responses helped create a collective picture of what home means across our communities and highlighted the importance of feeling safe, connected and supported.
