Our governance structure includes a board of non-executive and executive board members. The board provides leadership, direction, support and challenge. Our executive team is responsible for delivering services.

We also have an Audit and Assurance Committee which operates on these terms of reference and a Remuneration and Membership Committee which operates on these terms of reference.

Customers sit on our scrutiny group to review our services in line with our commitment to co-regulation.

David Bird, Board Member

David Bird, Board Member

David brings a wealth of experience of managing audit and regulatory issues having spent over 15 years in senior leadership roles in the financial services sector. He is passionate about helping people be the best they can be and supporting their ambition.

In 2011 Exeter Chiefs Foundation was created and David was one of the founding trustees. The charity is committed to improving the prosperity of communities in the greater Exeter area. Since its inception the charity has invested well over £1.5 million in region in pursuit of that aim.

David became non-executive director of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership in 2017. He is chair of finance & resources and the strategic investment panel, which have delegated responsibility for the delivery of various investment programmes aimed at improving prosperity in the region. As such he has an excellent grasp of public and private sectors working collaboratively for a common purpose.
