If you see it, suspect it – report it!

The government has developed a process called “Prevent” to help people who have been identified as being potentially vulnerable to radicalisation or extremism.

Radicalisation is the process by which a person comes to support terrorism and extremist ideologies associated with terrorist groups.

A graphic of all kinds of people holding hands.Terrorism is the use or threat of action, both in and outside the UK, designed to influence any international government organisation or to intimidate the public.  To be considered as terrorism it must also be for the purpose of advancing a political, religious or ideological cause.

Extremism is defined as activities; beliefs, attitudes, feelings, actions, of a character far removed from the ordinary

Westward is committed to working with all our partners to prevent and provide victims of radicalisation with a sensitive and appropriate response.  This will involve alerting the Police and other agencies who specialise in supporting those who have been the target of radicalisation.

Westward does not support any criminal act.

  • We will ensure that our services protect individuals and communities by identifying potential radicalisation and responding to it by alerting those who are professionally best placed to support victims and communities.
  • We will highlight the support that is available to customers and colleagues who believe they or someone they know may be the target for terrorist or extremist groups.
  • We will raise awareness of the issue across all our teams so that they can respond appropriately if they become aware of potential radicalisation or a disclosure is made to them.

For more information about our approach please refer to our Prevent Policy.

If you have concerns, then you can talk to us or report it directly to the Police.
