Working together to tackle damp and mould

Following up a recent conversation with customers from Kenneth Court, we decided to hold a meeting to discuss the damp and mould concerns at the site, share our strategies and processes and gather our customers’ direct feedback. 20 customers from Kenneth Court were in attendance and the engagement was highly valuable.
The forum allows for transparent communication, allowing customers to ask questions and receive information directly from Westward colleagues. We even had a team on hand ready to visit homes immediately after the meeting to address specific issues.
The panel included Jamie Curtis, Associate Executive Director Property, Jamey Jeffery, Property Investment Manager and Chris Willmott, Repairs and Maintenance Manager.
Key outcomes from the meeting
- Project updates: We provided details of our planned ventilation installation and subsequent cavity wall installation at Kenneth Court to directly impact damp and mould concerns. We explained in detail the timeline and impact on residents.
- Addressing specific concerns: Issues such as window sealant performance and the need for clear communication were noted and raised for action with assurances that the same team will return to Kenneth Court later down the line.
- Clarifying our process: We detailed our revised damp and mould management process, including our dedicated damp and mould surveyors. We also shared our damp and mould information film and new leaflet for comment and received good feedback.
- Legislative preparation: We discussed our readiness for upcoming legislation, Awaab’s Law, and how Westward is staying informed to ensure compliance and continued high standards.
