Success with the Torbay Supported Living Framework

Westward is thrilled to announce that following a successful tender earlier in the year we have again been asked to join the Torbay Supported Living Framework.

This framework covers our Steepway mental health service in Paignton.

Tenants tell us,

“I really like the friendly atmosphere that Steepway provides along with the positive relationships I have formed with the other residents.”
“Steepway is like home to me. If I never had anywhere else to live I would stay here. I wouldn’t know anywhere else that I could live.”
“It has provided me with the constant company and support that I didn’t have when living on my own. I am able to reach out for help as an when I need it so I can prevent myself from becoming unwell again.”

At Westward's mental health services we work with individuals to look at supporting them to work with practical tools. We do this by encouraging residents to take control of their daily lives, working with them in finding positive distractions and creative things to do day to day.

We promote stable routines and also inspire positive changes that will enable people to stay on their recovery pathway, feeling both supported and also listened to and valued.

Re-joining the framework allows us to continue to build our partnering relationship with Torbay Council to identify the needs in the Bay and develop services to help meet those needs.

We will also be continuing to work on our plans for a new mental health service in the Bay.

We are delighted with this success and congratulate our Steepway team on  the examples of good practice they were able to share.
