Safe e-bike and mobility scooter charging

You may have seen the awful news about the death of a mother and her two children due to the failure of a lithium battery for an e-bike whilst being charged. So it seemed a good time to remind you about how to safely charge e-bikes and mobility scooters.

Here are some guidelines for charging such items:

• Only charge when you are alert (not when sleeping), better still, be in the property so you can check on the charging
• Charge on a hard surface
• Do not charge in an escape route in your home
• Unplug when charged
• Check the battery for damage
• One socket – one device
• Beware of conversion kits for bike

Also, check your smoke detectors and have at least one on the ground floor and one on the second floor.

This is a great link to look at for more information.
