We are trying to make homes more sustainable and energy efficient, so that they are warmer and cheaper for our customers to maintain.
Our contractors, Low Carbon Exchange (LCX), were on site with us and the Westward Housing Investment Team to answer questions, address any concerns, and explain what residents can expect during the project. We also had support from Daniel Roberts, our consultant from Taylor Lewis.
We had some good conversations with the residents, helping them understand the planned work and how it will benefit them.
Barn Park is a small group of 8 bungalows in the village of Ashwater, North Devon. The current energy performance certificates (EPCs) for these homes range from D to F, but after the work, they will be improved to ratings of A to C.
The planned work includes:
- Replacing roofs
- Adding more loft insulation
- Replacing windows
- Installing cavity wall insulation
- Replacing external doors
- Installing solar panels
- Improving ventilation
Work is set to begin next week on the first few homes.
These improvements are part of our successful application for wave 2.1 Social Housing Decarbonisation Funding (SHDF), with the government covering part of the costs.
Barn Park is part of a larger project to improve 56 homes under the 2024/25 investment programme. We will provide updates on the other homes and consultations soon.
