Celebrating 60 Years of Westward

Westward Housing Group is proud to celebrate 60 years of helping people find quality homes and build strong communities in the South West. Since 1965, everything we do has been about making sure our residents have safe, affordable places to live and the support they need to thrive.
We listen closely to what our customers want and work hard to provide homes and services that really make a difference in their lives. Whether it’s improving the condition of homes, offering help when it’s needed, or creating welcoming neighbourhoods, our goal is to make sure people feel happy and secure in their communities.
As we mark this special anniversary, we’re focused on continuing to improve based on what our residents tell us. We want to build even stronger connections and provide better support, so everyone who lives with Westward feels valued, respected and proud of where they call home.
As part of our 60th anniversary celebrations, we’ve had the wonderful opportunity to get out and about, meeting some of our longest standing Westward customers. It’s been a real privilege to hear their stories, from what their homes were like when they first moved in, to how their lives and communities have changed over the years. These conversations have been filled with fond memories, heartfelt moments and inspiring reflections about what home truly means.
Listening to these stories not only celebrates our shared history but also helps us understand how we can continue to support and improve the lives of our customers for the years ahead.
One of the inspiring people we met was Elaine from Paignton, who has called her Westward home since 1977. Elaine moved in when the property was brand new, and all these years later, it still proudly holds some of its original features, lovingly maintained and looking fantastic. While much has changed in Elaine’s life over the decades, one thing has stayed the same - it’s always been home to her.
Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to chat with us. Your memories are an important part of Westward’s story.
