The home owners conference is an annual online event shaped by the feedback and recommendations of our home owners community. This was chosen as the preferred way to engage with home owners at a group meeting in October 2024.

They are a great opportunity to connect, share ideas, ask questions and hear about topics that matter to you as a home owner.

Last home owners conference: Tuesday 22 July 2025

Key highlights

  • Satisfaction matters: Over half of home owners are satisfied, but scores lag slightly behind those from customers in affordable rent homes. We are focusing on making services clearer and more responsive, especially as many home owners were unsure what to expect.
  • Service charges explained: Our service charge officer, Naomi Yeandle, broke down how service charges cover communal services like grounds maintenance, cleaning, and repairs. Transparency is a priority and help is available for any billing questions or problems with services: westwardhousing.org.uk/service-charges
  • Major works and your voice: Our property improvements manager, Jamie Jeffery, detailed how big maintenance projects are planned and how legal Section 20 consultations let leaseholders review, comment, and nominate contractors before work begins.
  • Shared ownership and staircasing: Our home ownerships services manager, Hayley Rossiter, explained the benefits of gradually owning more of your home – staircasing - selling your share, and extending leases. Newer leases now allow smaller increments and longer terms: westwardhousing.org.uk/owners
  • Getting Involved: Home owners can join groups or provide feedback in various ways. More improvements are coming to make it easier to communicate and access information: westwardhousing.org.uk/get-involved-our-voice
