New consumer standards

The Regulator for Social Housing is revising the consumer standards for housing associations. These standards are a set of requirements that registered providers such as Westward must meet.

Why does this matter to our customers?

These standards are linked directly to the service that we as a landlord provide to our customers.

The Regulator for Social Housing now has more powers to ensure that registered providers including Westward are meeting these standards.

So, as a customer, it’s good to know what you should expect from us.

Standard One: Good and Safe Homes

Making sure landlords offer tenants good services and homes that are good and safe to live in.

Standard two: Good relationships with tenants

Landlords should have good relationships with their tenants.

Standard three: Safe and well-kept neighbourhoods

Landlords should help make sure tenants live in safe and well-kept neighbourhoods.

Standard four: Renting homes to tenants

Landlords should rent homes to tenants and look after and end tenancies.

What next?

The regulator is currently reviewing the feedback that came through the from the consultation that took place in the Autumn of 2023.

In early 2024 the regulator will publish the final form of the consumer standards and from April 2024 the new consumer standards will come into force.
