Janine is a housing hero to us

Last week we and three members of our customer scrutiny group travelled up to Manchester for the ‘Women in Housing’ and ‘Housing Heroes’ awards ceremony organised by Inside Housing. As some of you will know from the recent article in Moor to Sea, group member Janine Allen was nominated alongside seven other tenants from across the country for the ‘Tenant of the Year’ award. Janine was nominated due to the impact she has had since joining our scrutiny group around eighteen months ago. She is passionate in helping Westward to improve the services we provide to our customers and she has developed so much since joining the scrutiny group. Janine says:

“The scrutiny group makes a difference one hundred percent! It's nice to know you can do something that can make a difference. The aim of being on the scrutiny group is to benefit the customers and Westward as well. Westward are good landlords so it is just be nice to get things running more smoothly and make a difference for everyone.”

Janine didn’t win the award this year but the quality of nominees and the overwhelming amount of positive work that housing associations have completed as a result of listening to their customers, was brilliant to see. Her shortlisting was so much deserved and we are delighted to have had this chance to showcase Janine and the scrutiny group.

Janine said: "I felt very humbled being in a room with so many inspirational people and if nothing else it’s made me realise how much I enjoy my part in our scrutiny group. We are a great team and will keep growing in strength as we go on.  The help from Westward staff enables us to make a real difference I am proud to be on the team."

Although Janine didn’t win, she is a housing hero to us, as are all her colleagues in the group! Jack Beer, Customer Insight and Engagement Manager says:

“Janine is passionate about helping Westward to improve the services that we provide to our customers. Her enthusiasm for her role within the scrutiny group is infectious and she has helped to drive the group to the positive outcomes it has achieved over the last two years. We are proud that Janine's development has been acknowledged by the wider housing sector and look forward to working with her and the scrutiny group further in the near future.”
