Neighbourhood Action Plan 2022-23

We were able to complete some great work during 2022-23, despite the continuing impact from Covid.

Shrubs planted at Markers Markers in Uffculme -  Shrub Planting

The pathway that greeted customers and visitors to the scheme at Markers had become unsightly, with overgrown shrubbery and weeds.

R&R Services (Devon) began work in January to start clearing the area and prepare the beds. This included soil improver to give the new plants a great start. 70 assorted small shrubs have now been planted and supported with woodchip as protection and mulch. We can’t wait to see how different it looks once spring arrives.

Chapel Court in Torbay - Storage sheds

Customers told us that lack of storage for children’s outside play equipment, such as bicycles, had been causing concerns. The solution was to supply storage sheds for children to leave their bikes after playing. This leaves the road clear and helps to prevent damage to toys.

New parking lines Horns Cross, Bideford- line marking

We all know how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the country. As anyone knows this can unfortunately have its downsides during the tourist season, and this has certainly been the case for residents at one of our schemes at Horns Cross, near Bideford.

Their close proximity to the picturesque Peppercombe Beach on the North Devon coast and the lack of parking provision for visitors to this area meant that the resident car park was being over-run with day-trippers. Residents often couldn’t park particularly at weekends or during the summer months. Different approaches have been tried, and Westward even increased the parking provision on the site a few years ago to try and help alleviate the pressure on the parking.

We have marked out an allocated and numbered bay for each property with provision for a small number of visitors spaces and use of permits to identify authorised parking. We hope this helps our customers.
