To complete the mutual exchange application form for moving into a Westward Housing property, you will need the following information and documents:

  1. Current property details:
    • Full address of the property you wish to exchange into.
  2. Personal information:
    • Full name, date of birth and National Insurance number.
    • Contact details, including phone number and email address.
  3. Current tenancy details:
    • Current address and landlord's name and contact information.
    • Tenancy start date and type of tenancy (e.g., secure, assured).
  4. Proposed exchange partner's details:
    • Name, address and landlord's contact information of the person you wish to exchange with.
    • Details of their property, including type (e.g., house, flat) and number of bedrooms.
  5. Supporting documents:
    • Proof of identity (e.g., passport or driving licence).
    • Recent utility bills or bank statements as proof of address.
    • Payslips or benefit statements to verify income.

Important considerations:

  • Financial obligations: Ensure that any outstanding debts with your current landlord, such as rent arrears or service charges, are cleared before applying. Be prepared to pay rent in advance, typically one month or four weeks' rent, before the exchange takes place.
  • Property condition: Your current home should be in good condition, with any necessary repairs completed prior to the exchange.

Mutual Exchange – Incoming Tenant Application Form

This form is to be completed by non-Westward tenants applying to exchange into a Westward Property. You should refer to the Guidance Notes for Applicants sheet before submitting your application. Important information which you need to read and understanding before completing this form.
Mutual Exchange Guidance. We will have up to 42 days to provide you with a decision regarding your Mutual Exchange. The 42 days will start when we have received your application. If the second or other applications are not received within 14 days then your application will be refused. Once a decision is made, we have a further 28 days to confirm your actual move date. These 28 days are to ensure that we carry our safety checks on your property (Gas and Electrical Test).
