Positive People and Westward training opportunity

Events & digital workshopsPositive People funding logos

Westward is working with Positive People to provide customers with training opportunities and to develop skills towards future employment.

Would you like help with your digital device, or help accessing and using the internet? Or want to learn a new digital skill and meet other like-minded people?

Our Positive People project can help with advisors who offer free digital training and support either on a one-to-one basis, in small workshops or via informal digital cafés. Support can even be given over the phone or via email depending on your need.

The aim of the project is to help reduce social isolation, improve everyday lives, help those wanting to get back into work or training, or introduce people to new groups and communities all through improving digital ability and confidence.

Westward customers can get help with:

  • Setting up and using an email or other online account
  • Job searching and applying for jobs online
  • Finding cheaper deals online
  • Using social media and video calls
  • Internet searching
  • Using your device (permissions, notifications, security settings and general navigation)
  • Online safety (identifying spam & scam emails, antivirus software)

Regular digital cafe sessions offer training or guidance on all things digital and the workshops cover more in-depth training looking at online safety and social media. A self-employment workshop is available for those who are interested in starting their own business.

The creative skills sessions are a great way to meet new people and include digital photography, stop-motion, action camera mountain biking, digital drawing, making music, digital cooking and many more.
