Summer Fun Day brings local neighbourhood together in Paignton
Local residents gathered together this week to enjoy a community-building ‘Summer Fun Day’ at Westward Housing’s development Fernicombe Close in Paignton.
Organised by Westward, residents were encouraged to fill out a questionnaire to review the services provided by Westward along with support agencies who were on hand to answer questions and provide information. Activities from local groups provided lots of fun, such as face painting, toasting marshmallows on an open fire, clay modelling, arts and crafts and sack racing.
Advice on recycling, welfare benefit changes, and employment and training opportunities for residents was also on offer, along with a food and drink stall.
The Fun Day was also an opportunity for residents to have their say about what they would like to see happen with the communal green space in their area.
Westward Housing’s Customer Involvement Officer, Amanda Lynn, said: "We are very excited to be working closely with residents to provide places where people want to live. This development is a great opportunity to showcase the strengths of partnership working in the community. We are delighted to be supported by such amazing local organisations, proving that working together we can make a difference.”
“The Fun Day proved to be a great way to bring residents and their families in the neighbourhood together, forge new friendships and generate community spirit,”
Westward would like to thank Positive People, Torbay Community Development Trust, Play Torbay, Torbay Recycling and Go Local for their support and making the day such a success.
