A new beginning for community centre

A new beginning for community centre

Work has taken place to bring the Morwenna Community Centre in Northam, North Devon back to life.
For a while the building at the heart of the Morwenna Park Road estate lay dormant but has now been transformed thanks to volunteers both locally and from our social enterprise Grow, based in Bideford.
The building has been decorated and cleaned and all essential equipment replaced.
Ann Davies, Westward Team Leader, said, "New booking procedures are in place so the centre can be used for various activities including one-off events like birthday parties and fundraising events."
The new era was launched with three events – a Christmas wreath making workshop, an animation workshop and afternoon tea with music. Many people attended and there was positive feedback.
“Having a mix of people attend the centre was a great opportunity to showcase the facilities, it removed barriers and myths about the centre and the buzz during events was all positive,” said Ann.
