Westward Support

Westward has an excellent and validated track record of providing high quality, outcomes-focused support services to a wide range of client groups across Torbay, Devon, Plymouth and Cornwall. These include people with mental health issues, alcohol or drug issues, a history of offending, people with learning, physical or sensory impairments and long-term conditions, younger or older people with support needs, teenage parents and people at risk of domestic abuse or homelessness.

As part of our commitment to deliver excellence, provide better homes, healthier environments and stronger neighbourhoods where people want to live, Westward Support provides preventative and early intervention services for 2,000 people. These include specialist, supported living and social enterprise projects, and sheltered housing schemes, agency-managed projects and a wide range of accommodation-based and floating support services, including client-commissioned services with personal budgets.

About the job

We have a vacancy for a Support Worker (Zero Hours) who will who will be part of the team based in Northern Devon at one of our local projects; two separate accommodation-based projects - The Bridge ‘Housing Plus’ Project or our Community-Based Support Service, which is usually delivered to people in their own homes. The role of the Support worker will be primarily to work with people on developing their employment, tenancy and life skills as part of their move-on plan.

You will work alongside other external agencies to provide a holistic, outcomes focussed service that recognises the individual journey of the people we work with.

By providing quality one to one support you will encourage, inspire, motivate and assist people to live independently, meeting the outcomes and goals they wish to achieve.

About the ideal candidate

You will have experience of working with people, either in a paid or voluntary capacity and an understanding of how to foster independence for people facing difficult issues in their lives.
