Westward hosts charity golf at South West Housing Conference

Westward Housing Group's sponsored Charity Golf Competition was the curtain raiser to this year’s conference.

Charity Golf provided some light relief for housing workers at the South West Housing Event in Torquay, raising £1,065 for Homeless International – the Chartered Institute of Housing’s nominated charity.

Westward Housing Group hosted 35 golfers for a buffet lunch, charity golf tournament and cream teas during the prize giving afterwards, at the start of the annual South West Housing Event.

On Wednesday 14th April players of all abilities competed in various fun and some more serious golfing competitions to raise funds for the chosen charity.

Winners were: best overall individual – Mark Grove of BRC, best team Robin Jackson and Brian Hitchcock (Trowers and Hamlins) and Tony Sharland (Westcountry Housing, nearest the pin – Jon Shaw of South Glos Council, and putting competition – Nick Hopkins of Pearce Construction.

Westward’s chief executive, Julian Tuck, presented the donation cheque for £1,065 to the president of the Chartered Institute of Housing for his chosen charity Homeless International at the conference on Thursday 15th April. Julian Tuck also presented the golf trophies - beautiful Dartington glasses.

Two additional prizes for the putting and nearest the pin competitions were kindly donated by Westcountry Maintenance Services and Ashfords solicitors.
